What is photography?
Photography is a type of art and just like art there are many different ways to do it, many different types, and a long history. Photography is a great way to make memories, to share moments and to make a different type of art.
Photography is made up of two words “photo” and “graphy”. The word “photo” means light and the word “graph” means drawing which when combined give you “light drawing.” Photography was first discovered in 300 A.D. but it was not when it was truly discovered and explored. It was truly discovered in the 1800’s. The first person to take a photo was Joseph Nicephore Niépce in June or July of 1814.Louis Daguerre was also able help the photography world by finding a way to make images permanent with a shortened exposure time.
Photography has a very wonderful history. As I have said Joseph Niépce was the first person to take a picture. Louis Daguerre was the invented the first reasonable process for photography. He and Joseph started to work together to improve photography. After Joseph’s death Louis created a way to make images permanent by putting them out in the sun. Henry Talbot was the first to create a negative picture which had a black background a grayish focal point. Wet plate negatives were created by Frederick Archer. They used glass as a base and a dark room to make the picture more detailed. Dry negative photos were created and with this it brought hand held cameras and ways to store pictures longer. George Eastman created the flexile film roll with made to box camera a reality. Soon after color film was created which were a huge hit.
